The Bourgeois family has been making wines on the slopes around the Loire village of Sancerre for 12 generations. They own important vineyard sites composed of the region’s three main three soil-types; flint, chalk and limestone. Chalky soil makes for aromatic, delicate wines; flint gives the wines a steely quality, more complexity and greater aging potential; and limestone adds body and good, clean fruit.
