Castello dei Rampolla, Conca d’Oro, Panzano in Chianti, Tuscany

This top-class Tuscan estate occupies some of the finest vineyard sites in the Chianti Classico zone and works entirely biodynamically to produce wines that draw high praise year after year from every leading critic. In the ownership of the di Napoli Rampolla family since 1739, the estate makes one of the very best Chianti Classicos (90% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The Wine Spectator rates it so: “Blackberry and black cherry aromas, with hints of spices and black liquorice. Full-bodied, with ultra fine tannins and a long finish. Polished and well defined. All in finesse.” And Robert Parker is just as positive: “ . . . a bold expression of fruit that bursts from the glass in a full-bodied style. Sweet scents of earthiness, spices and French oak add complexity. This is an awesome, richly flavoured Chianti from one of Tuscany’s top terroirs and most inspired producers . . the wine is insanely delicious”
